Well I certainly have a go-to formula, don't I? Cami, cardigan, skirt, pumps. And repeat.
At least this skirt is a bit different because of the lace - I love this look and love this skirt but as usual my big hang-up is figuring out ways to style it other than with neutrals.
Anyhoo.....happy hump day.
Cardigan: Ann Taylor (same style, different shade of gray)
Casual Friday means time to bust out my beloved new booties! I could never fully jump on the bootie trend but I think its because (1) I legit couldnt figure out how to wear them (with skirts or with tight cropped jeans is best) , and (2) I was buying the wrong ones. These ones are fantastic as F because they are sort of a cross between a bootie and a shoe with the cut-out. I love 'em.
Though I've styled it a few other ways in the past, I clearly favor pairing this t-shirt with a gray pencil skirt, as evidenced by Exhibits A and B below. Trudging through this work week - happy almost Friday!
Finally cool enough to wear my favorite wool sweater - huzzah. This sweater is a legit workhorse in my closet - so much so that I own it in four colors. But gray is (as always) my A-Number-One (thats a saying, right?). See a few other ways I've worn this puppy on the blog below....
Woah, nothing like coming back to work after a long weekend with a head cold that won't quit. Feel like shit, look like shit (OMG seriously look how out of it I look in this picture!). But I keep on trucking. And at least I got dressed. Happy Monday.
Hi ho! Just a quick post to say hello before the long weekend - two outfits here: one that made it to IG a week ago and one from today. Both with stretchy pull on skirts from LOFT which I love because who doesn't love stretchy clothes? So appropriate for Thanksgiving....
This is my go-to - black/white/gray with red shoes. I truly think this is the combo i go to the most in my work wear.
So I have wanted a red wrap dress for awhile. (1) who doesnt love a good wrap dress? and (2) red is one of my favorite colors. So obviously this is a no-brainer. I did a little trolling of Poshmark on whim one day (as I sat on the floor of my kids' room waiting for them to fall asleep and guzzling wine), and stumbled across this lovely dress for $13! Holla! It's also a perfectly lovely dress to wear on this obscenely hot November day. Ugh.
I don't want to get all political or anything, but seriously - WHAT JUST HAPPENED? Feel in a daze today - shell shocked by the results yesterday and disappointed that I had to admit to my two young daughters that fear-mongering and hate won. Worse still, it was my daughter's seventh birthday and she really wanted the first female president to be elected on her birthday. Sigh. Sigh. Sigh.
Allowing myself to be cranky today, but tomorrow I will start anew and try to be hopeful. For my kids.
Happy Election Day! Don't forget to vote, people!
It's also my daughter's seventh (!!) birthday, which means this outfit has to take me from work to a birthday dinner at her favorite BBQ restaurant. No problemo!
Also - its in the 90s today. Seriously?! What happened to Autumn, Los Angeles?
So I have obviously been bogged down with work for months on end. I had a huge trial in early September which went on for nearly five weeks.... and then as soon as that was over I had to start preparing for another trial that was set for October 31. So. I basically haven't had a chance to take a single breath in that time.
But then, miracle of miracles, the case set for trial on the 31st settled on the first day of trial. And suddenly I am free. (Ok, not really, I still have a boatload of work, but all of it feels waaaaay more manageable than TRIAL).
Anyway, to celebrate my freedom, I chopped off all of my hair. Huzzah! Not used to it yet, but I think i like it!
As for the outfit - I am celebrating an unseasonably warm November day (or is it? seems 80 degrees in LA is the norm now for November) with one of my fave dresses.
Plugging away at the never-ending workload. Got this amazing top from Ann Taylor - adore the wrap effect, adore the color, adore it all. Its a bit low cut for work but as long as I kept an eye on it, it was all good. Would look just as lovely with a pencil skirt as it does with dark denim.
Also new from Ann Taylor - these nude pumps which replaced the Charles David ones that I wore into the ground.
OMG. I look tiiiiiired in this pic. Probably because, well, I was. Took it at 8pm in my office after working approximately 11,000 hours; wasn't even going to take a pic but damnit, I loved the outfit!
These Zara shoes I just got (to replace my black pumps which literally disintegrated as I walked out of court on the day we got our jury verdict) are so adorable I can hardly stand it - am I the only one who is super obsessed with the d'orsay trend in shoes? However, they are also wildly uncomfortable so, blah.
Anyway. Going to trial for the second time in two months on Monday. I am exhausted beyond comprehension and am so tired of working. But, thems the breaks.
