This skirt sat in my closet for years and only recently did I realize that it was cute and should get more play. It's a bit schoolgirl chic, but I dig it. Also, I seriously cannot stop wearing these nude shoes. They just go with everything, what can I say?
I'm a broken record with the "I'm so busy" nonsense, but it's true! In full-blown trial prep mode, and I look as tired as I feel.... Also, I hate that this cardigan looks black in pics instead of navy. Though I guess I shouldn't complain when I am taking shitty photos in my office with my iphone at 6:00 p.m.
Wow, I am a bundle of fun today - hah!
When I first saw this dress in Banana Republic four or so years ago I fell madly in love with it, but was not down with the price tag, so I did what I often do.... troll ebay for months obsessively. A year or so later and the dress was mine, for 25% of the price. Unfortunately, my weight was a roller coaster after having my second kid, and the dress just never fit right and fell way to the back of my closet. So imagine my joy when today I tried it on and the damn thing fit properly for the first time ever! Huzzah! The dress is so beautiful, it was worth the wait.
(PS: I am going to apologize for the first and last time about the annoying desk corner and light switch in all my pics... this really is the best pic location in my office, sorry y'all!)
Not a lot of time to post, but here's what I wore on this busy Tuesday. Loving the flippy skirt (continuing to try and break out of the pencil skirt rut) and pairing it with an old favorite cardigan..... (also please ignore the horrible awkward fold in the cardigan - it took me a century to get a non-blurry photo so I just had to make do).
Late lunch break for Karen, early afternoon coffee break for Paloma...
As employment attorneys, we frequently find ourselves at the some governmental agency on 4th Street. But this is conveniently next to the Grand Central Market, so there is always the promise of excellent coffee before or after some grueling conference.
Such was the case today, as I wore my labor blues for a loooong conference. Pardon the wrinkled skirt! Sitting all morning, you know. Lunch and coffee afterward never tasted so good, especially with Paloma there to perk up my day.
Thanks to those of you who said you like my office selfies - I still feel like they are pretty lame, but whatcha gon' do? I missed blogging these last few months and even if the pictures aren't as pretty as I would like, I am enjoying getting back in the swing of it.
Today was.... ugh. Just busy. And long. As most days have been of late. And unfortunately it shows no signs of stopping as I am looking at working over the weekend as well. Boo. So here I am, expressing my sadness about the state of things by standing in my office at 4pm, making a really exasperated face, and wearing shades of blue.... ha.
It's me alone in my office again! I haven't done a solo shot in my office in awhile (partly because its kind of hard, and partly because the pics just pale in comparison to those taken by the lovely Karen in some interesting location), but I love my new sweater oh-so-much, so I felt compelled. I never shop at Anthro because, well, I am cheap... but as soon as I saw this sweater I knew I could not go another day without it in my life. Oh, and also my mom was buying. Hehe.
Yes! We've blogged twice in two weeks - let's see if we can keep this going...
So yes, yes, we are well aware of the infrequent blogging! It surprises us that people read this at all, much less continue to read it, and that sometimes escapes us when the days go by and we don't break for a quick photo a couple of times a week. Really glad, though, that you guys stop by now and then!
Today was a quick meetup at the Whole Foods to grab lunch. That parking lot lighting sure can be fickle.
I have been a Rent the Runway Unlimited subscriber for about a year now, and a part of that pursuit was to consistently blog all the goodies I'd get each month. (Well, see above regarding those efforts...) RTR, I sure do love you, but you are one sneaky creature... My subscription price basically went up 300% in the span of a year. And then my dear friend Jen kept telling me about how she had been on the wait list for months, which made me think, Damn. I can't cancel it now. So I was held hostage by this pricey service for the better part of a year. Items had been hit and miss. I took huge advantage of the handbags - that's where I got the most use out of it. Commensurate with their price hike, they also tripled their inventory so that you could now rent clothes in addition to just accessories. However, you had to really eyeball how the couture pieces would look and fit, and a week later after it arrived, if it didn't fit or looked just crazy (how often does one wear fur, for instance), it was back to waiting another two weeks or so before you could get the next piece. So, I'm not sure if the value weighed itself out in the turnaround with having to send everything back to New York from California.
But a couple of Clare V. bags really kept me on the subscription, until I realized, uhh, spending a few grand on this a year is bananas. And with that, I blog the final two pieces I've picked from RTR: a scarlet Theory dress and a killer Coca Rocha x Botkier studded purse. Closeups as well since, well, you know. Lighting in a parking garage ain't great. And the links below take you directly to what I picked.
We haven't posted in, um, over 3 months. [teeth-gritting Emoji]
OK, oh well! Happy Lunar New Year! The biggest bummer is that we didn't get our usual December 31 picture by the big ass Christmas tree, but here's a whole new year to start new traditions. And we're going to stay on top of them.
As for today, we indulged ourselves quite a bit with a visit to the Grand Central Market and our ever favorite coffee spot, G&B. This weather requires a nice walk outside!
Life is busy, blah blah blah... so shamefully disappointed in my absence from the blog....blah blah blah. What really matters is that here we are again, and again promising that this time we will stick with it!
As for my ensemble, I love it because it is made up of new pieces - both shirt and (probably a wee bit too short) skirt. And perfectly comfortable on this insanely hot 90 degree February day.
