Warehouse Window Shopping

My co-worker Vi and I have this common obsession for noodle soups.  Our other co-worker and frequent co-conspirator, Steve, does not share this obsession.  On days when our lunch plans diverge, Vi and I run off to find nearby noodle soup.

That brought us today to a quick bowl of pho at everyone's favorite downtown Vietnamese, Blossom. The neatest secret about a trek to Blossom?  Hang a right afterward onto Winston and to the warehouse district.  Shortly after this photo was taken, we scored a dozen really hip sunglasses for $12.

Yes, you read that correctly!  12 pairs of sunglasses for $12.

And I mean, they weren't janky ones, you know?  They are basically the kind that end up with a Minkpink label or something on them... because the pair that I bought today is replacing an identical Minkpink pair I lost.

So, this was taken shortly before the sunglasses bonanza.  I like the hearts on the ground.

Drinking Buddies

Wow, we got together twice in one week!  It's an ever-loving miracle!  Last night we got together with a couple of other current/former co-workers for happy hour and it was glorious.  Unfortunately we waited until after imbibing to take these pictures, so they wound up blurry (thanks to the wine) and dark (thanks to the sun setting).

Paloma says...

A-line skirts forever! Seriously this skirt is a dream and it (almost) makes me never want to wear a pencil skirt again. I only wish it were a smidge longer.

Now why... WHY... didn't we think about taking these snaps before the drinking began?  This isn't actually me looking down, this is me hanging my head in shame.

What a wonderful reunion, though, with Paloma and our other co-workers from the time when we were... uh, co-workers.  It was a little bit of a belated birthday fete for me so I felt extra special, and was extra happy.

I had been waiting to blog these shoes for the longest!  The weekend after my Italy trip, I wandered into Frau at the Westfield Century City.  Its provenance claimed to be Italian, so like a real nostalgic sucker, I bought a pair.  And have never looked back.  They are beautiful shoes and comfortable, to boot!  (Or heel.)  These are a dark blue, or notte, so donning some notte heels feels really delicious...

As for the leather jacket, that's a little Rebecca Minkoff x Rent the Runway... I love it.  I don't think it's going back.

Sticking With What I Know

I am so terrible at styling this top. I pretty much have only ever worn it with a black pencil skirt. Maybe one of these days things will get crazy and I will wear it with a gray pencil skirt! Or maybe even pants! Gasp! In the meantime, I will stick with what I know.

Also... I definitely look as tired as I feel today. Had a lovely Mothers Day and then stayed up way too late to watch Game of Thrones (OMG when Sansa found Reek!) and drink wine...

Belated Everything

More than just a belated birthday lunch, it is a belated everything lunch.  In an ideal world we have lunch together once a week; in the real world it's getting to be once every six months!  In any event, today was a happy reunion at 10e... catching up on work, travel, family, friends... and clothes!

Karen says...

Casual and rainy Friday!  I had a couple of nice birthday outfits this week for the ol' three-six, but all of the working and celebrating got in the way of posting.  Still, was very excited to put together a lovely new necklace from my darling friend Cynthia, and a Stella McCartney Falabella knock-off that I bought in Italy from Blue Sand for 50 euro!  Two things I really miss from Italy: Blue Sand and Kiko Milano cosmetics.

Was simply wonderful getting together with Paloma at 10e for some Lebanese.  We ate a lot, talked even more.  Wish every Friday could be like this.  Thank you, my dear friend, for lunch!

Paloma says...

Oh I could just gush for an hour about how wonderful it was to see my beautiful friend Karen today. Makes me nostalgic for the days when we our offices were right next door to each other.... sigh

In outfit news: nothing could be more simple or more classy than all black. Right? It's even more perfect on a gray and rainy day like today (hello, 60 degrees! That's straight-up winter weather here in SoCal!). Paired with a camel blazer and red shoes, and its anything but boring.

That Perfect

I love tops like this.  It's a t-shirt, so its comfortable as hell, but it has ruched sleeves and a boat neck, which makes it a little more sophisticated and therefore more work appropriate.  I also think it looks great with a pendant necklace.  In other news, in my recent Nordstrom shopping spree, I got this Halogen pencil skirt - I now have it in four colors: pink, teal, camel, and now black. I would literally buy this in every color they make, its that comfortable and that perfect.

Accepting It

I recently did a little online shopping spree at Nordstrom for skirts (sadly, the reason being that I am finally accepting I have gone up a size and that new size seems to be here to stay - oh well), and am so happy with this lovely little A-line number.  A girl gets tired of pencil skirts sometimes, ya know? Also - I officially love all things Halogen. I feel like I could just buy everything they make and have the perfect wardrobe.

Woeful Whining

While I don't want to come on the blog only to once again woefully whine about how busy and crazy life is....well, life really is busy and crazy.  But thankfully for those of you still reading this blog, I still care (probably a bit too much) about my clothes and thus I present to you, once again, my outfit. And my blurry hand.

A Perfect Combo

After a killer work week, I am so relieved that its Friday.  Not much to say about the ensemble other than that it brings together some of my favorite things - black, jeans, polka dots, and turquoise. So - pretty perfect.

Hope everyone is ready for a lovely weekend!
