Birthday Black

Karen says...

I had a very happy birthday today, if a bit frenetic because it coincided with a big work assignment.  Whereas last year I was in Coney Island, and the year before that in Vancouver, this was just a low-key birthday at home with wonderful friends and eating delicious food.  It's nice to remember, as the years go by, how little you need to truly be happy.

I actually had some mini-fantasies of a fabulous birthday outfit and thoughts flew through my head in the days prior of just what I will wear on my birthday!  When the day finally came, I decided I just wanted to look nice.  And be comfortable.  And with me, that's just nice pieces of black with a couple of accents.  Also a tube skirt with plenty of give because of all the good eating...

Dinner was in Beverly Hills tonight, so we had dessert at Bouchon, and took a couple of birthday snaps in the Montage courtyard.

Hard to see the detail in these evening photos, but there are two front pockets on this mod textured blouse, and they are lined with leather.  I love the little luxuries!

Blouse: Club Monaco
Skirt: Bebe

  1. Black with pops of colour is a great combination. So effortless and classic! I had similar thoughts about my birthday for the past couple of years. In the end, I just wear something comfortable for a summer's day and try to appreciate where I am at that time. Happy birthday!

    1. Thank you, Rita! I always have trouble with a birthday outfit because I want to feel extra special, but 9 times out of 10 it ends up being black...
